CATEX 2009 - IRELAND'S DEFINITIVE FOODSERVICE EVENT

CATEX has firmly established itself as Ireland's premier showcase of equipment, services, and food and beverage products for the foodservice and hospitality sectors. Launched in 1965, CATEX has developed over the years into a complex mix of trade stands, live competitions, demonstrations, workshops, and seminars, all aimed at targeting Industry decision makers to attend the event and engage with you the exhibitor.The Catering Equipment Association (owners of CATEX) continue to invest heavily into the content of the show, along with their industry partners; The Panel of Chefs of Ireland; The Restaurants Association of Ireland; The Catering Managers Institute; The Bartenders Association of Ireland; The Speciality Coffee Association of Europe;and the Irish Hospitality Institute. The joined up thinking of these industry partners has further enhanced the appeal of the show with additional features for CATEX 2009. New features include:-
Chef Ireland International Hot Kitchens
The Panel of Chefs of Ireland is delighted to introduce a culinary style ‘battle' in the form of the innovative Chef Ireland International Culinary competition. The Restaurant of the Nations competition will see two nations compete each day of the show. The teams competing for the title are the USA, New Zealand, Germany, Scotland, Wales and Ireland with England in reserve.
Chef Ireland Live Theatre
The Chef Ireland competition, which was successfully introduced to CATEX in 2007, has already been upgraded to a continental show as approved by the World Association of Chefs' Society (WACS), making it one of the top 6 competitions in the world. The semi final which will run at the CATEX 2009 is the global chef challenge which will see 15 nations in northern Europe compete.
Chefs' Choice
Chefs' Choice will enter its second year at CATEX after a hugely successful introduction in 2007. The Chefs' Choice highlights the growing demand for organic produce and the feature is an opportunity for businesses who supply high quality, natural foods and ingredients to the food service and catering industries, to showcase their products to a discerning audience.
Energy Management Pavilion
With recent increases of energy costs and the growing awareness of the affects of fossil fuel on the global environment, the hospitality sector has come under scrutiny on their need to manage their energy usage in order to control costs and remain competitive. In order to address soaring energy costs CATEX 2009 has introduced a showcase of all available renewable technologies and energy management systems available to the Irish hospitality industry in the shape of an Energy Management Pavilion.
Barista Championships
Once again CATEX will play host to the National Barista Championships where the crowned champion will be chosen to represent Ireland at the 2009 World Barista Championships. The pressure will be on this year's entrants to follow in the footsteps of recently crowned World Barista Champion, Irish man, Stephen Morrissey.
The Irish Cocktail Championships
The Irish Cocktail Championships at CATEX is the only trade show where the Bartenders Association of Ireland comes to showcase the immense skills of their industry and discover new up and coming talents. The winner of the ICC at CATEX, who will ultimately go on to represent Ireland at the World Cocktail Championships. The WCC are organised each year by the International Bartenders Association and are supported by over 30 industry companies and leaves no doubt of its reputation with over 50 countries participating in the event each year.
Seminars & Workshops
Topical issues, addressed by acknowledged experts in the catering and hospitality industries, will be presented and debated at a series of workshops and seminars during the 3-day show, all designed to improve understanding and knowledge within these sectors.
