Aims & Objectives
The following are the Aims and Objectives of the CEA:
- To promote and encourage publicity on behalf of the industry and our members in particular including advertising and the publishing of informative and educational literature.
- To organise and promote the biennial National Catering Exhibition more recently known as Catex on behalf of our members hospitality in general.
- To promote and further the interest of our members and to take such action as the Association may think fit to protect and defend those interest against any action, conduct or proceedings which tend to impose restrictive conditions on the business.
- To establish agreed Credit Control arrangements and take such steps as the Association may think fit, to ensure that resale discounts shall be confined to bona fide persons, firms or companies, engaged in commercial catering equipment supplies provided that this does not in any way authorise the association to fix prices.
- To negotiate on behalf of members with Government Departments and Public Bodies on matters affecting their interests as well as liasing with architects, consultant engineers and specifiers in the formulation of terms and conditions in relation to kitchen equipment contracts.
- To encourage and maintain high ethical standards of business amongst members and those having dealings with them. To encourage a high standard of service and customer satisfaction by striving to improve and upgrade codes of practice within our membership and the catering equipment industry in general.
- To promote and encourage the development of a high standard of training for operatives in the whole of commercial catering and ancillary equipment.
- To remove misunderstandings and differences between members and those having dealings with them and to secure fair and equitable settlements of disputes.
- To co-operate with other Associations, Federations, Government Departments or Public Authorities and more recently with EU bodies through our membership of EFCEM in the formulation of EU directives and their implementation in the interest of our members.
- To raise funds to further the objects and interests of the Association and make contributions of a charitable nature from the funds of the Association as well as funding sponsorship for competitions and the provision of Educational Scholarships awards such as medals and trophies to encourage standards of excellence within the Educational Sector of our Industry.
- To provide a common form to promote the importance of our Industry and enhance the business of its members and the sector of the Hospitality Industry in which they serve.
