About Us
The Catering Equipment Association was founded in 1965. It was initially known as the Catering Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers Association, a title which it held until it was incorporated in 1982 as CEA Ltd., and thereafter became known by its present title of the Catering Equipment Association.
Today our Association has a member of 40+ manufacturers and distributors forming an amalgam of companies serving all aspects of the Catering and Hospitality Industry in Ireland and covering a very broad and varied spectrum of products and services.
The CEA is a full member of EFCEM the European Federation of Catering Equipment, whose Technical Committee liaise with the EU Legislative bodies in the formulation and drafting of EU directives which govern the performance and safety of catering equipment appliances and thereafter incorporated law. Our membership of EFCEM affords some input into legislation which govern our industry as well as keeping us fully informed of obligations under EU Law.
We are also fortunate to have a very good working relationship with CESA our U.K counterpoint, who have been very helpful in the supply of technical data and other information pertinent to the implementation of CE marking and other EU Directives which govern the performance and safety of commercial cooking equipment, general kitchen appliances and food preparation machinery.
